CHEER 2010, The Crowd Goes Wild~

Lets start right off from the wee hours of the early morning. Didn't sleep well enough I just tossed and turned almost the whole time in bed, playing some mobile games on my phone and wondering hows the music going to be like this year, especially the one i did for one of the teams competing Electric, even more I wondered what on earth happened to the last part of the song which I was supposed to finish up but there were changes so I had to wait for the changes that didn't even appear in my emails right up until "D-day" itself. Yeah.. I wondered. I figured it that I must've been conditioned to become restless and nervous on the day of CHEER competitions since a long time ago and its become a bit of a habit now even though I'm not performing or sending any cheerleading teams in as a cheerleading coach this year. Yup, I decided to sit back and chill at the spectators seats this year, and enjoy the show.

Well anyway back to me being on the bed. I played these two games... Elven Chronicles

and this other one is just fun haha! Cute lil Furby~ Furby Island

Okay so I did get some sleep in the end from playing these long-winded games, well its more like an extra long nap though *naps should be about 30  minutes only typically* so it was kinda weird to take a nap when its actually time to be sleeping.

I woke up at about 5.30am and well didn't have much to do other than take a shower, choose what I'm going to wear to the place and get ready to zoom out from home. On my way of course I had to pick up a VIP on the way hahaha ! Went to get Pris from her place. She soooo wanted to go for this year's CHEER 2010 and of course, she got what she wished for !

- Pris in the car trying out the camera as I finish breakfast -

On the way we dropped by a McD drive-thru and got something for breakfast. As we all know breakfast is one of the most IMPORTANT things to have to start a day right! Its a good thing we side-tracked for breakfast because sleep deprivation must have started to set in when I realized I was wearing sandals. Supposed to be in a pair of shoes! I just hate not being dressed appropriately for some events. At least I didn't forget my underwear. LOL ! Went home to take my shoes and zoomed off to the Putra Stadium at Bukit Jalil.

Didn't take long to reach the place as there were not many cars on the road or I would be dumb-struck if there was any slow-moving traffic at all on an early Sunday morning. kinda felt like the cheerleading hype was still asleep when we arrived at the same ol' parking lot. And there was lots of places to park too! Pris and I were worried that it would be packed already down at the participants seating anyhow so we quickly packed up our stuff and headed in. Right out off the car we bumped into Flo, YongHui, Steven and Sebastian haha wooo familiar faces ! Followed them down to the competition floor and well no ones really going to be as enthusiastic as the cheerleaders and show up as early as them eyh?

- The whole catch-phrase thing takes up most of the backdrop and the CHEER 2010 logo is like right at the corner. Like it got enlarged straight from one of the newspaper ads. weird. -

The rest of the cheerleaders were either at the backstage warming up, running through their routines or being checked for certain infractions like long nails, or short skirts. Yes we are very strict to prevent from super long nails scratching other people and also to protect the cheerleaders privacy and dignity. Basically its all for safety precautions. Good thing we got there while it was still quite vacant we got to stay around the competition floor the whole time! We did hop around here and there for a bit as the cheerleaders got back to their seats before the event started, with the hosts/emcees rev-ing up the crowd with a sudden burst of their shout-outs to the crowd, everyone starts to go AAAAAHHHHHH and WHOOOOOO~

- Just after half an hour or so, the crowd started to fill up the place, see some people with their sleepy faces, yawning, that guy is even reading his morning paper. Chillin' .. but still sleepy face-

The first few squads do their stuff, well somehow I'm not amused much. Instead I was more interested in the music this time around, listening to what kind of sounds they chose for their routines. Most of the time there would always be one or two songs going about most of the tracks and this time its this one song from 3OH!3 's "My First Kiss". The repetition of the song does not go as far as just the song itself, it gets way up to one part of the song.

- We got busy during intervals between the performing doing what else? Take more pics! Actually still testing camera because someone said its not very nice to use. OK what ! -

After awhile as more and more teams performed, I noticed that the sound system was getting more irritating too. The music got sharper losing its bass levels and since I've been sitting on the right side of the stage, my right ear kinda got partially deaf at times, and no its not because of the crowd at all. The speakers gave out screeching-ear-drum-breaking noise that I guess bothered most of the squads on the performing floor. Might explain why there were so many falls and stuff. Pity the cheerleaders for such lousy PA handling. Wanted to take a photo and see who's at the console and look who I found..

- Hey lookey there~ its miss Dila Ariff! Woooii I'm taking a picture of you~ -

Haha if you readers don't know her by now, here check out her place DilaAriff.com. She's cool. Wow my camera's zoom isn't that bad at all it seems. Anyway the guy at the PA console was like blocked off from the stage-left side speakers so he probably didn't notice the music sounding just oh-so-PAIN ! Kinda knew which teams would be affected already based on their music. If they didn't level the volume properly while editing then.. there goes your performance. I mean, its not just that the cheerleaders performing would get so freaked out by the music, the spectators would get so pissed too, who on earth likes screeching music for a cheerleading routine. It really is just one big turn-off.

- Seriously... Its is a painful thing to experience at a CHEER competition -

Guess the supporters didn't care at all. They screamed their hearts out for their team almost the whole day. These people were right behind where I was seated. Well they were quite loud, but not as loud as I remembered it to be the last time I sat behind the Dynamitez supporters few years back. They were so freaking loud you could feel the wind blow right up your back!

- Somehow, the trend from the past years seemed to be whichever team had the most supporters, would more likely get top spots. These are the Cyrens supporters, living up to their squads name -

- The Adele cheerleading team and its supporters are still around ! I was wondering where have all the KL cheerleading teams gone. Apparently a few still survive the new judging system of CHEER 2010 -

I started off walking around after awhile looking for some people, see what they're all up to. Met up with a whole lot of other cheerleaders, ex-seniors from all the previous cheerleading teams that I've coached before. It was more of a to-and-fro walk along the side of the stadium I was based at anyhow most of the cool cheerleading teams were all there. WOOT! I stumbled upon a few nervous coaches as well, while they're looking out for their teams and checking out the other rival teams...

- The different faces of nervous *or super confident* coaches, Here's (from left) Chee Wei, Yee Ming, and Alyna Tiong -

Apart from all of those peeps, I had to see some other more important individuals for well, business purposes.  Your song is awesome! haha thanks for letting me do your songs~  Electric! =P
- Electric Cheerleaders! Vee and PeiWen Jo-Jo-Jo-Lene -

Right this is supposed to be MY exprience at the Silky Girl CHEER 2010 event, and if you're asking why there's not a single picture of me here? Its because I don't really like to see myself in a picture. However, behold, right from my own camera, a rare picture of meeeee!

- Its Me ! If I'm not wrong that is Alyna holding my hand as I asked her for more music pay~ Thats the Team Awesome shirt I'm holding in my other hand. 25 bucks yo! but its worth it coz. its AWESOME! -

- Thats the front of the Awesome Team Shirt. Me and Pris. Don't believe me I look like an idiot in front of the camera? Well here you go. Some how Kelvin Loh's got an uncanny ability to take pics of me looking really weird. LOL -

Going on later in the day the more experienced teams turn to perform comes and it really shows whether they have all improved or not from the previous year. What I looked for more was their ability to give the audience a good show and if there was one that got me going WTH it was the Shirtliff cheerleading team. I just have to say, whats with that song choice. Cheerleading is supposed to be inspirational, not make you go head-banging. So many cheerleaders around, so many teams performing and showing of their crazy pyramids, stunts and gymnastic abilities, so many friends I could take a picture with, instead what do I pick next as the object of interest?

- The CLAW~ What can I say? Couldn't help it I looked at the thing and it reminded me of it-

- The Overhead Camera ! I got to see thru the monitor screens and I just wondered "Whoa~ imagine all the cool shots that thing can get! The CAAAMERRRAAA~ -

Noticeably the crowd was already all piling up and inching? feeting? meter-ing closer to the performance area because well either they were all getting tired already and sliding lower down their seats, or they were trying to get a better view of the next bunch of Stars coming up to the mat, one being all the way from the USA, Santwon McCray!

- No Kidding! This Santwon guy is Awesome! Yet again have to take some pics from Kelvin Loh. I have no way of getting this kind of cool pics where I was standing. Pro photographer guy Kelvin is -

After Santwon's performance *he even did an encore* who else was next to perform, none other than the CHARM All-Stars !

Right after CHARM's performance, we didn't think of staying, since we kinda guessed correctly already who was going to get 1st place this year as it was quuuuite obvious. I was also being rushed to get out by someone who had to go home early, and another who was getting really hungry. So oh well off we went, pass the crowds, the yummy snack foods near the entrances, into the car, and off to the dying sunset ! So to say lah.
Where we went for dinner and what happens next? thats more to come on another post, sometime, later. PEACE !

Whoops forgot one thing.. this other performance. I just pity him because the sound system really sucked straws at this point where the music was too insanely loud and sharp, and he was like trying to get over the music most of the time he was singing.

- As you can see he seemed like he was struggling throughout his whole performance. *Sigh* pity, pity -
