Well don't just stand there.. do something!

Sometimes having certain benefits given to us,
may not be useful at all,
even if the offer sounds really great at first.
Just some example I can think of now.

For instance, getting a free trial gym membership won't do anyone any good
if they've got no idea how to use gym facilities,
or when they're giving excuses like not having the time,
or maybe its not useful to them or something.
So try not to be blinded by these hard to pass offers.
Most of the time, its too good to be true and when its all said and done,
you'll be at the losing end.

They'll probably convince you to come with the constant promises
of FREE or INSTANT or SPECIAL or whatnot,
taking your sensibility off the fact that you would've already invested
in some bus or train ticket to go to that gym, or paid for petrol for your vehicle.
Heck, you probably don't even realize you've just spent off some energy,
which you got for paying for your breakfast earlier in the morning.
That's just for starters.

When you're there, all the sales talk begins.
Try this or that, its really fun and you'll love it!
We've got the best gym equipment and trainers in the world!
You'll see instant results, maybe in a few days or at least a week!
(trying to be a little more realistic)
We'll make you the champion of the world! The number one!
(If they dare say so)
You readers can fill in all the FREE or INSTANT you want.
That, I can promise you will be included the whole time.

Such sly and cunning promises to only keep you coming.
Later on they'll start promoting protein shakes,
SPECIAL gym offers, SPECIAL edition t-shirts,
SPECIAList trainers that can train you up, apparently,
even better that the 'best' ones in the world,
SPECIAL work-out music albums to keep you motivated?

Some people really need to learn how to sell their ideas
more effectively and honestly.
Figure out what really motivates someone to do,
what you want them to do,
and that they'll stick to it for the rest of their lives,
not just blindly offer them instant,
temporary comfort or assurance..
candy, cash and promises that will not help them in the long run.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man how to fish, feed him for life.

Well hey, if someone doesn't know how to fish with a rod,
at least don't catch that fish for them just yet.
Forcing them to catch with that rod until they get something,
just demotivates them.
What about try handing them a fishing net instead.

Fine, it probably teaches someone to have a sense of perseverance,
and to work hard, never give up and all that.
Take a step back for a moment and think,
what lesson are you actually try to focus on here?

Kill to birds with one stone, you say?
What ever for, if you can't even hit one bird,
or maybe worse.. you don't even know how to throw a stone?
lets go back one step.. don't know what a stone is?
don't know what the act of throwing an object is?
don't know how to spell THROW or ROCK?

There's always a simpler or alternative way to do things.
Always go back to basics.
Don't just give up on the person you're trying to educate,
partially or fully, when in the first place,
you've already set your mind that you want to TRY and help them.
Even more so if its your job, career, lifetime mission to educate!

Some people might say, it is a waste of time to teach everyone
starting from the simplest basics,
when we are already somewhat more intelligent,
some people are smart enough to skip all the basics,
and go to more advanced stuff.
How unfortunate is it, that this is more of what most people are doing today.
The ones who can't catch up with the majority will have to lose out,
always be second best, always end up being the sidekick,
the assistant, never the leader, and that's how life is these days.
Survival of the fittest? NONSENSE!

Everyone sure can talk the talk,
what about make a more eager attempt to walk the walk?

Talk about equality, talk about fairness in this world we live in these day,
Yep, just all empty talk and not even the slightest bit of 'walking',
living up to promises for the fight for all that is fair and equal.
More like everyone's fighting each other to gain power and advantage over the weak.
Well, that is what I see around me these days.

If all of this ever made sense to anyone reading, no matter how randomly rant-like this is,
Please do thank that one person who probably taught you from the very basics of life,
that one person who never gave up on you while you made your mistakes,
who never forced you to be what they want you to be, and instead,
allowed you your own right and freedom to grow and be someone you want to be.

The Adventures OF *yawn*

Just about yesterday in the wee hours of the morning I was on a mission to go into the urban jungles of Kuala Lumpur (well not exactly right there in the insides of the city) somewhere in Cheras, to collect important equipment that could save the human race! Okay not really however it was of an equal importance to that. It is for my uncle who's having... would it be correct to say suffering from? or going through the stages of... Cancer. Any how, my destination - Hospis Malaysia

I have to be honest here, whenever I think of going into, or anywhere around KL, I'll freak out! Knowing as much from the many stories about KL traffic and its winding maze of roads and streets and alleys and shortcuts, and how it could drive a person to go insane (explains the constant honking most people dread to hear, especially early in the morning when everyone's heading to work all groggy and grumpy and hungry) not to say I haven't had a generous portion of it in my life before; been there, done that. This would be my first time driving around Cheras on my own (most of the time IF I ever happen to go about driving in that area I usually survive getting out of it by following other friends) and I have no idea how!

So thank goodness to technology these days, even without a proper GPS navigation system in possession that I can put in the car there's always the good ol' pen and paper with the power of... GOOGLE MAPS

Super easy to find the place of course. The only trouble is I still had to drive and there's no escape from it. Anyhow its really great to have up to date maps so you'll know what are the landmarks you can keep in mind when driving later on. Here's what I wrote down...

Looks simple enough, or so I thought. I even had directions on how to go back from the place. Yup its that much of a phobia for me driving in KL what more to some unfamiliar place. Initially I had already printed out the location map provide at the website which well, to some idiot like me being put out blind on KL roads, I found out it wasn't much of a use after all.

Picked Pris up from her place at about 6am so that I could avoid the jam most of the way there, which was a hopeless attempt at avoiding the usual morning traffic congestion leading towards KL. Pity her she was still sleepy so she got some shut-eye for awhile. As for me, having chosen the route and more or less having committed it to memory already, I decided not to try another path with my not-so-precise-and-trusty Google Map 3.0 navigation app which I have in my phone to some futile attempt to by-pass the jam. The closer I got to entering the roads passing through Cheras on Jalan Loke Yew, the more memories I could recall of my past encounters with this dreaded passage I have had to cross about a dozen times before. Back then fortunately enough I was not the one driving.

Its like, "HEY~ I KNOW THIS PLACE!" and then, "SHOOT! I have to go through THIS place?!"

Being somehow worn out and wary of which turn to take next I stupidly decided to ignore the directions I had in possession of and instead followed the signs showing the way to Jalan Cheras. OH YES! I eventually did end up on Jalan Cheras; on the wrong side of it. Darn. I quickly made my way to a SHELL petrol station a little further up the road. Wait, somehow the whole area looked rather familiar; I paid no attention to my thoughts because someone was already feeling rather irritated with me stealing her away from her cozy bed so early in the morning. I'm sincerely very very grateful that you came along Priscilla! I quickly tried to find my current location with the phone and after awhile found myself not very far away from my destination. Next thing that came to both of our minds... HUNGRY!

Driving further looking for a U-turn, and finally heading on the right way I instantly recognized the road I was taking I shall not go into that anyhow just so you know anyway I still did end up turning into other roads later on fearing that I might miss the CORRECT turn and would have to drive goodness knows where and how far then back again to try to get into the CORRECT road. Obviously, we found the place.

Okay I didn't take any photos of the place so these are ALL from the Hospis Malaysia website itself. This one here is the initial look and the next one would be how it is at present time.

The place is so COOL! No not anything like amusement parks or of the sort obviously. I mean, its like when you walk in the entrance you could actually sense a strong aura of calmness and serenity, the kind of peaceful feeling so significant and powerful that no other bother in the world could make you care more of it even if it breached through this forcefield surrounding the whole place. Birds joyfully chirping, a kitten playing around at a nearby flower pot with it's mom beside, cool breezy winds blowing; you just MUST call it a sanctuary safe from all evil! Alright I'm getting waaaay overboard with describing the place anyway~ even the pictures of the garden below won't be enough to show you how truly wonderful it really is.

Reached the place at about 7.30am and it was still too early the office wasn't open yet so Priscilla and I decided to check out the row of shops nearby to see if there were any 'coffee shops' providing breakfast. At first I thought it would be close enough for us to walk, then again we were both super hungry. As hungry as... an Eric and a Priscilla! So we drove. We wondered no more as we easily found one place which was a corner lot, sat down and had quite a pleasant meal of Pork noodles and Pan Mee that we both shared. Rather satisfying I must say! For some place which somehow felt rather somber, OH right did I not mention it was a housing area with a cemetery existing around?

After an hour or so we returned back to the place, walked to the counter and gave the details they needed to confirm the items I was going to receive; the ripple mattress which is the piece of bumpy bubble-wrap look-alike sheet thing on top of the bed, not the thick mattress under it, a wheelchair (my first time handling a wheelchair) , an oxygen concentrator, one word... HEAVY! Along with all that in a small container some Potassium something something supposedly to treat bed sores.

Ripple Mattress

Oxygen Concentrator
The staff were all very helpful with teaching us how to use the equipment as well as assisting with trying to fit everything in the car. I was kinda worried with how to put everything in the Waja and yet Pris figured out how to fit the wheelchair at the back easy as err... easy? Yeah okay maybe I worry too much sometimes. Thanks again Prissy~ you awesome! Signed some papers and off we went towards PJ. I did say way back that I wrote directions to go home as well, no? Followed them like an obedient dog follows its master. Woof ! =D

Stopped by my uncle's place to give the equipment and supplies, that would be about some time past 10am. Took some time to show my aunt how to operate the equipment, had some drinks and it was time to go. What was next then? LUNCH.

*skips lunch topic*

I sent Priscilla home some time in the evening and rested at her place for awhile because I was super exhausted! I ended up sleeping up till 10 something which was sufficient rest to drive home. Of course I didn't go home just yet, went to supper instead at McDonalds and THEN sent Pris for real and zoomed home quick before I started getting sleepy again and swerving all around the highway.

La-dee-dah ~ I'm home !

FACEBOOK teaches us very valuable lessons in life and most people may not get it. Life goes on. You're not the only important person in this world. Everyone are equals. Sometimes you need to let go of things not worth hanging on to. Don't hang on to the past, look forward to the future. How did I realize? Where else but from the Status Updates. :)

May 29, 2010 at 5:25am

Letters from the past are dangerous whenever they are opened once again after such a long time.. especially when you've grown so much more as a person and understand more of life now.. you may feel regretful and upset that things didn't go well.. then again you feel thankful that you've been cared for by another once or twice before..

June 7, 2010 at 10:29pm

I wish you bluebirds in the spring, to give your heart a song to sing, and then a kiss.. but more than this, I wish you love..

Up at 6 in the morning, turned the tv on, watching Family Guy. If only it would be like this almost everyday. =D

..and then its The Simpsons! aww man I gotta go get ready to send my mom. Oh well..

Hiding secrets never did anyone any good. Not teaching us early in our education life about the real facts in our history is like not treating the young with chickenpox immunization; when they grow older and they get chickenpox at adult age, it gets painful, bothersome, and irritating as hell.. life threatening maybe? They'll figure the truth out and USE it to lash back viciously at whoever hid the secrets from them in the first place. Beware those in charge of our History Books! =O

What is perfection and why is it so hard to achieve? Because people always want more and will always never be contented with what they see and get when they reach their own perfection always wanting more and more. When they're gaining, who's losing? The rest of the world. Forests lay bare, seas and oceans polluted, natural life on the verge of extinction, poverty. All this because of greed, selfishness and inconsiderately striving for a better perfection than the ones that they have already. Goodness can't we all be thankful, grateful for everything we have already?

October 17, 2010 at 8:38pm

October 21, 2010 at 2:52am

there's nothing sadder in this world than sincerely nice people with kind, caring, beautiful hearts being put down by other people who are really just 'ugly' both inside and out, just because they can. Whats fair in this world eyh?

October 24, 2010 at 10:46pm

We can never expect everything to go our way every time we want it to be, its always better to make it go the way we want with our own strength and confidence. we are more than capable of turning things around for our own benefit, believe me, i know. we only need to trust in ourselves every time we feel helpless and hopeless. Even then, trust in yourself that for you no matter what there WILL be friends ready to help you in any of your challenges in life.

So to all parents, let your children sleep longer every once in awhile. You'll never know they may be the next genius of the century.

December 26, 2010 at 3:53pm

I woke up from a dream *really awesome one about ghosts which kinda freaked me out though* and its raining, the whole house seemed suspiciously silent, I slowly walked down to the hall, no one was around, I thought I was still in a dream state which kinda freaked me out, walked into the maids room and saw her watching the usual tv drama, with an internal sigh of relief *phew* I said, "Kak, boleh masak mee soup?" =D

December 28, 2010 at 8:58pm

I very much respect all forms of religion no matter how ideal or crazy it may seem to me. However, if anyone tries to influence me to join in their beliefs a.k.a convert me, it just puts me off completely, I kinda look down upon the person then. Still, I keep my respects to the religion as I believe we originate from one faith shared by the whole world, of humankind and our ability to be who we are today.

January 1 at 3:53am

When we're bothered by other people at a time we don't feel like being bothered, it shows that we still care for them deep down inside no matter. We can't care for everyone, can we? It'll only drain the life out of us and we'll be too tired to take care of ourselves. Therefore, we should take care of ourselves first before we can be able to take care of others. Then we won't be bothered or irritated by other people.January 5 at 5:03pm
